The JMU Brass Band, founded in 2000, is widely regarded as North America's premier collegiate brass band. Directed by Kevin J. Stees, Professor of Tuba and Euphonium. The band won the 2024 NABBA Championship Section and in 2009 became the first brass band to perform a full-length concert at the Kennedy Center. Currently ranked in the top 50 brass bands worldwide.
